We have gotten a lot of amazing feedback and responses from everyone since first publishing Patch Tarot, the following are some of the common questions we received and our answers to them.
One of the biggest changes is the movement from The Fool to The Child, which describes that a new paradigm is upon us. All of us are on our own journeys through life, and we are not inherently fools, but children in the school of life.
Further, the value of Aleph is 1, and The Fool was traditionally linked to Aleph. For this reason, The Child has been given the number 1, in addition to 0, making the symbol for Phi. This reflects the wisdom of Christ, who said “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven,” as well as Heraclitus, who wrote “The Kingdom belongs to the child.”
Another major change in this deck has to be the reversal of positions between The Empress and The Emperor, which was done incredibly purposefully and, in our humble perspectives, by the hand of Spirit. This switch aligned The Empress with the Hebrew letter “Heh”, of which stands for the Feminine components of the Tetragrammaton (Yod Heh Vav Heh) – the Holy Name of God. It also allowed the Major Arcana flow, from cards 1 – 4, to balance “Male, Female, Male, Female”, and describes that it is through the feminine that the new consciousness (The Hierophant) is born.
All of this and more is further described in The Book of Patch.
Patch Tarot features cards attributed to the unknowable and undefinable aspects of the higher mind of God, called The Holy Arcana. Each of these cards represents a special space on the Tree of Life which have previously never been included in tarot decks before! These cards are entirely benevolent, and are a reminder of two things – that Spirit is always with you, and that the Tarot is not “the answer”, but the map that helps the mind find the answer, which exists within your own heart.
If you wish to use Patch Tarot with the standard 78 card deck, you may freely remove these four cards and place them upon your altar or use them in your meditations instead.
